Training to be provided for rule of law institutions

The EU project has successfully identified the capacity building needs of rule of law institutions in Kosovo in strengthening institutional response to the fight against trafficking in human beings, with the engagement and mobilization of international and local experts.

Based on the identified needs from the needs assessment, a training programme has been designed and planned in close coordination with the beneficiaries, namely the National Authority against Trafficking of Human Beings and its Office, the Kosovo Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Judicial Council, the Judicial Institute and other institutions.

The following trainings will be offered in the close future:

  • 7 regional workshops for specialized and newly appointed judges and prosecutors. Workshops will deal with treatment of victims of trafficking, witness testimonies, interaction with victims and communication, building trust, underreporting analysis, and other related subjects.
  • 4 regional workshops for Directorate for Investigation of Trafficking with Human Beings and Directorate for Witness Protection.  Workshops will deal with identification, interviewing and treatment of trafficking victims, building trust, interaction and communication with victims, prevention of secondary victimization, and other subjects.
  • 1 workshops with law enforcement and judicial staff. The workshop will inform participants on collective reviews of trafficking cases.

The total number of beneficiaries from these workshops are expected to be around 150 participants.
